Just can't hide that Gavit Pride 2010!
MS Academic Team FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY (CLASS I) PLACED 2ND IN THE STATE!! WOW!!!
As you know, our MS Academic Team placed first in last Saturday's Area Super Bowl in Merrillville. After this competition, all of the scores by class from the area competitions in site locations across the state are compared. Check out the images here
Congratulations To the MS Academic Team for an Excellent Performance on Saturday May 1
The Area Super Bowl Competition in Merrillville was held Saturday May 1st. After months of hard work, the students learned a lot and performed exceptionally well at the competition.
Gavit placed FIRST for the Multi-disciplinary Team (a first time for Gavit at the MS level), SECOND place for the Science Team, and FOURTH place for the Mathematics Team (not officially recognized at the event but quite a feat against Wilbur Wright and Hobart, consistent winners in this category year-after-year). Advancement to a state-level competition only exists at the HS level.
Ms. Midkiff stated "The students were extrememly well-behaved and looked wonderful in their team T-shirts and uniforms pants. You would have been very proud of them!!"
Below is a list of the team members (all seventh graders from WOW and STARS), just in case you would like to personally congradulate them. You will notice that there is a little bit of overlap in team members; there were a total of thirteen team members.

Gavit Goes to State!
The Gavit Decathletes have done it again. They are a shining example of what is right in our school. They earned over 25,000 points combined from all 10 events. This is enough to send us to Purdue University in Lafayette for the state level of competition. Many individual medals were earned (25 in all), at the regional level that was held here at Gavit, for 9 area schools, and they deserve recognition.
